We hope that this website will provide you with a meaningful introduction to our busy and exciting school, to its ethos and to some of our plans and expectations for the future development of our school. Millennium Integrated Primary School opened in September 2000 as a new independent, integrated primary school on a temporary site.
The school opened with 10 primary one children. By September 2001 the school received government funding and by September 2003 the school moved into a lovely new building on an elevated site between Carryduff and Saintfield. Millennium Integrated Primary School is now a thriving school with a current enrolment of 184 children in the main school and 24 children in the pre-school.
At Millennium Integrated Primary School we place great value on people and the relationships between them. Our approach is very child-centred and your child is at the centre of every decision made by the school. Supporting the children are the teaching and ancillary staff and all adults connected with the school.
All our staff bring enthusiasm and dedication to the job and take a positive interest in the children. We recognise that teachers have an enormous impact on the lives of children. Teachers and children spend so many hours together and teachers have the very responsible role of shaping a child's experience of learning.
At Millennium Integrated Primary School we know that it is essential that all the adults who work with our children must feel in touch with, and have a good understanding of, the child-centred ethos of our school. This understanding then has a direct influence on how they relate to our children. When employing new staff we place great importance on selecting staff who can support and show empathy to children, thus playing a vital role both in their academic progress and their personal development.
Our school is equipped with the latest resources but our key asset is having an outstanding team of talented teachers and learning support assistants, committed to ensuring that every child benefits from their time at Millennium Integrated Primary School.
Millennium Integrated Primary School also fully appreciates the essential role played by parents. They have taken the unique opportunity to help form the school and they continue to contribute to its daily life - as parents, as members of our Parents Council, as members of the PLEASE group, as Board of Governors. The friendly, welcoming atmosphere in our school is thanks to the enthusiasm, dedication and excellent partnership which exists between staff, governors, parents and children.
